Grasses from the point of view of a deer

Becoming the Deer

I wandered through grain-laden grasses,
taking in what I could before the scarcity of winter set in
and this is what I saw through my deer-eyes:
sunlight shivering like crystals through the tall grass
sunlight brilliant on the water just over there
layers and layers of soft lines and
sharp shapes of light and dark
and the rhythm of life going on
